Am upgrading my athlon cpu and replacing the cooling fan at the same time. The fan I have bought has a pink thermal pad stuck to it, but the instructions say that this can be removed with white spirit, and the thermal paste supplied used instead. Which is better - the pink pad or thermal paste?

AMD recommend that you don't use thermal paste in the long term, use the pad.

MAJ is correct. With AMD you are better using the pads. Also do not use white spirits, or similar, [Too much oil residue] This is the correct cleaner to use. click here

Yes, sorry for the delay! MAJ was dealing with several other problems, and I was just my usual self. Slow at typing. ;o)
