Is there a free alternative to Adobe Acrobat

Does anyone know of a free alternative to Adobe Acrobat I need to insert pages and write over existing text, general modifying.

Foxit Reader, which is also very much more compact than Adobe. A PDF Editor is also available.

Foxit editor has a free version, but it inserts a little advert stamp on each file unless you pay for full version.
The reader is free.

I use pdf xchange viewer free and faster than adobe noadverts
