Is there an alternative to Powerpoint

I do not have Powerpoint and would like to know if there is an alternative, maybe free. The software would need to read the.ppt extensions.

Open Office; free fully featured office suite, the PowerPoint alternative is called "impress" the whole suite is compatible with Microsoft file formats

With VOG link you will only be able to read a powerpoint presentation not make youre own.

And in fairness the OpenOffice "Impress" isn`t a patch on Powerpoint with some incompatibility but it does let you create your own. If all you need to do is view them take VoG`s link, otherwise smy13.
