Text recognition software

I use an Epson RX 620 MFD, which, apart from being frustratingly slow to print normal text pages, gives excellent quality printing, particularly colour photos. However,I am surprised that it does not include OCR in its suplied software. this is not a great problem as I have some other software, which I needed with a cheaper printer; however,I would be interested in others' views on why this is not included in the suppied bundle. I guess it's cost, butif one has to buy separate software, surely it would be a selling point to have this included with all the other software. Although I do not intend to change the printer, are there other printers which supply OCR in their bundle?

I associate OCR software with scanners not printers. Obviously all bets are off if it is a combi

Me too! but as an MFD has a scanner section I would have thought something like Omnipage or Abbyy would have been included.

If you want a (supposedly) free OCR have a look here:

I obtained ABBEYY from a PCA cover disk a while back only to find out (still on dialup at the time) that you needed a 34MB update for it...:-(

Fortunately my son had BB and downloaded it for me.
