My system is Windows7 Home Premium and my router a Netgear 834G v3 with u.t.d firmware working with an ADSL2+ connection that is permanently on

I have enabled telnet in the system's control panel, but when I start, run, and enter cmd telnet 192.168.0.1. the router's address, the screen appears but momentarily then vanishes. No data appears.

I hope someone can help me with this, please. :)

it would avoid confusion for others if you stick to one posting on the same or similar problem

Well I give a big cheer to the gentleman, who has ruined the chance of a perfectly reasonable and genuine question unjustifiably.

Must be the router itself, try to reset it and also disconnect power cable for about 20 secs,

Could have internal damage, or firmware corruption,
I would bet you have Telnet Client and Server installed and that you have checked that the Telnet services are running ??

Try d/loading another telnet based emulater and try it with that.

make sure that windows 7 has not blocked port 23 in the firewall.
cause the security of 7 is hectic...

cheers
