if i buy a cd player for a car and i like it i always move it to the next car i buy and so on why cant i do this with the windows xp cd disk i bought, i do not buy a new cd player every time i buy a car....anyway i have win xp on my puter downstairs but when i install it on my upstairs pc it says too many about got you by the b...

You don't own the operating system
only a license to use it on one PC.

I may have this wrong but I think if you have the original disc with the Keycode on it.I believe you can use it on another new computer providing you scrap the old one.

own the disk at the price it is, my problem apart from being bullied by microsoft is the windows disk i am activating has only been reinstalled once and my perious disk that i had which was xp i nhad installed 5 times ....

you are not being 'bullied by microsoft'

just telephone microsoft to activate if the online activation fails
(just like everyone else has to)

but i couldnt understand the accent as the call went to hyderabad...will try again tomorrow to see if i can get someone closer to home....cheers paz
