telephone line

When talk talk came to provide a freeview box and router they unplugged the telephone line that was plugged into the skybox which I have which gives me a range of freeview programmes over and above the normal. They then plugged this tel line into the router.

What this means in practice is that the skybox doesn't report back and sometimes will shut down in the middle of a recording.

My question is - would there be anything stopping me effectively splitting the phone line so that I can plug a connection both into the router and the sky box? Would there be any consequences re performance that you can think of?

Not sure of your set-up - have you gone from Sky to TalkTalk for your phone and broadband?

If all the Sky box needs is a phone line, you can indeed provide it with dial tone from the phone socket of a filter, through a 'double-adapter' if necessary.

Why would your sky box need a phone line?
