Taran - 1st daft PHP question

  PurplePenny 13:00 25 Oct 2003

OK - here goes with the first daft question. I know nothing at all about PHP so it may be that it does things that I'm not familiar with ....

When setting up osCommerce it asked me to say where the secure server was (httpsdocs on my host). But at no time did it give me the opportunity to set anything up in httpsdocs and setup didn't put anything in there, it put everything in httpdocs.

In a file configure.php it gives the path to a folder called /catalog/ on the secure server but setup didn't create one. Should there be something in there or does PHP create files if/when necessary?

Secondary daft question - the path to the server is defined thus:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'click here.***.co.uk')

and the secure server thus:

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'click here.***.co.uk')

will it make a difference that in fact the two folders in my root directory are called httpdocs and httpsdocs?

Feeling all in at the deep end ......

Oops ... how do I stop the forum rendering the path as "click here"?. Those should read as all the w's "http" in the first one and "https" in the second one.

I've answered my own question about the https path - it is correct.

But I'm still all at sea about whether there should be anything in there.

Everything is solved.

I saw this one yesterday afternoon and had to leave for the evening. By the time I got back and had the time to come in and answer you the site was down (and only became 'live' a short time ago).

Good news though, that you got things sorted out, and no, it wasn't a stupid question.

Keep going at it Penny. You're taking a large bite of a big topic but nothing about it is insurmountable.

When the site is up and running I wouldn't mind taking a peak...

Best regards

I'd been fiddling around with osC when the site went down ... I thought that I'd really messed things up :-) ... but it was my webhost not me :-)

I'll let you know when it's finished ... unless I yell "help" again before then :-)

Thanks Taran,
