Tape to PC

I wish to put on my comp some of my music tapes.I have Nero 9 installed on my comp and would like to use it but when I load the Nero Trax prog, it asks me to connect my tape player via the 3.5mm jack direct to the sound card. Now my tape player has a USB output. Question is can I use the USB output point or do I have to connect direct to the sound card via the 3.5mm jack. Thank you for any help on this.

On my machine Soundtrax takes its output from master volume so picks up anything you can hear so if you can hear the cassette player via its usb connection then it should work. (Other options are to enable 'what you hear' or 'stereo mix' depending on the hardware and software you are using)

If you can't hear anything then you may be missing the driver for your usb device - in this case the cassette player.
