TalkTalk and Netgear failed after line upgrade

I am using a Netgear DG834PN Wireless modem router and TalkTalk free internet connection.Win.XP on newish computer.All was fine with my internet connection until last week when TalkTalk put their own equipment in my local exchange.Things were o.k. for a couple of days,slight speed increase,but nothing brilliant.
Then overnight it seems I have lost the connection.Oddly if I pull out the ADSL connection at the router,wait three minutes and plug it in again I have a connection quite fast too, for about three hours,then nothing ( I read this on a website set up for netgear problems). Anybody have a permanent answer to this problem?
before I waste a fortune calling TalkTalk's helpline.

You won't waste a fortune calling TT's Help line (ending in 1820) as it's free from a TT phone line.
