Taking lap top on holiday - on line?

  gel 15:29 14 Oct 2010

I take my laptop on caravan touring holidays in the UK
Could any one advise the most economic way of getting on line

I do visit some remote areas

Thank you

I would guess a 3Dongle or similar would be best bet - Google/shop around, prices should not be too bad.

Either T-Mobil Dongle or McDonald's Hot Spots this is free hot spots, and will work outside the restaurant

if you are with BT then use openzone, the cost is zero

Do I need to add anything to the lap top

to use it outside side McDonald's

It all sound s very economic

I thought many Caravan Club sites have Wi Fi?

If your Laptop as WiFi, No you can just connect. Set you laptop to look for all available Networks then choose it from the List, they are fast links. I have used it without problems. Also used my Daughters T.Mobil Dongle, But they are very slow at best

Hi and thank you for your comments

Yes the Caravan Club does have Wi Fi on its sites but we stay on farm sites

Interestingly a few weeks ago we stayed on a farm near Ripon and the farmer had an Internet Shed in an orchard with a very good computer set up using Linux which was free for all visitors

Thanks woodchip sounds good
