The sound stopped working on my PC so I re-installed the microsoft drivers. - After doing this all of the XP system sounds work but I can no longer listen to music from CD or over the internet.I'm also getting a Generic Host Process for Win32 Services error when starting the PC (XP, SP2).szAppName : svchost.exeszAppVer : 5.1.2600.2180szModName : wuaueng.dllszModVer : 126.96.36.1999offset : 0007cb9aAny ideas ?
did you also install your motherboard drivers ?
Check your Volume control under Start/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume. It just may be muted
This is a bit of a last ditch attempt, but a repair install of windows should fix the problem, but try everything else first.
Thanks for the help. It turned out that there was a problem with the windows updates that was causing the problem.Fix can be found at click here
