System Tray

  kentylad 10:30 23 Aug 2003

Since installing Norton Internet Security 2003, the icons within my system tray have disappeared; including network connections.
I am running XP and understand there is a setting by which you can hide inactive icons, but this is disabled anyhow. Even if the icons are active they cannot be seen

Any ideas as to how to rebuild them?

Have you tried, right clicking on the Taskbar, Click Customize. This should show all the icons, then change their settings to 'always show' On the previous page ensure the 'hide inactive icons' is unchecked and click Apply (That's what I forgot).

There is no 'customise' option when right clicking......?

Start > Network connection > Right click your current connection > Properties > Tick "Show icon in notification area when connected"...

Click ok. Even if its ticked remove the tick and then repace it.

Right click taskbar, then left click properties, then click Customize.

Customise and Hide inactive icons are greyed out i.e. inaccessible

Tried but didn't succeed

Found the problem...

I had disabled "Show taskbar notification icons" in TweakUI

It strikes me that Tweak UI causes more problems than it is designed to solve? Why bother with it in the first place?
