System Restore and SSD

SR has turned itself on again. I've had two threads about it previously. This is another computer I'm using but still happening. I think Fruit Bat /\0/\'s suggestion on the other thread must be right, that it's Windows update doing it.

Ccleaner showed Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package (KB3032622) was the last restore point created when Sys Res was supposed to be off. So if you're running an SSD worth checking it. I decided to disable it this time using the group policy editor and also unticking the box for Allow Remote assistance...

Of course this machine only had 8.1 not 8.1 pro so using the key on the pro update I had for the other dead computer, I used it with 'add features with a new edition of Windows'. Worked like a charm but had to validate via phone.

Hopefully I've nailed it this time for good. A lot of work for something that should be so simple.
