hi all, are there any settings anywhere that can be adjusted to create more restore points, mine seems to put one in every 4 days, sort of putting one in when i switch the laptop on.... thanks

There isn't. BUT you can set one manually, once you have logged in.

Just open System Restore and select "Create Restore Point"

You could use something like GoBack from click here However, this can slow your system down (not much, but an "average" home user's system would become abit slugish)

It automatically creates a "restore" point whenever the system isn't being used. You can also restore specific files as well. AND you can restore your system WITHOUT having to load windows.

To change the interval between system restore points, run regedit and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore. In RPGlobalInterval it is set to 86400 (seconds) which represents 24 hours. Change it accordingly.
