System Restore Error

  Boffin Boy 20:38 16 Jan 2005

I have recently found some strange things happening to my computer and so decided to use system restore, however when I tried to run SR a message box came up which said "System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and run System Restore again." So I Rebooted, but when I tried again, the same error.

I am running win xp home sp2.

Thank You.

Have you scanned for viruses and Spyware?

Should have thought of that!

Running a scan now.

Have a look in Control Ranel / System / System Restore & make sure 'Turn off system restore on all drives' is not checked

That should of course read 'Control Panel'

Hello again.

Ran an AV check, no viruses.

I am thinking of formatting and reinstalling xp.

Is this a good idea?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Click Start/Run type sfc /scannow (Remember The space after sfc.
Have your windows disk in the drive ready in case any files need to be repaired.

Worth a try it might help.
