SYSTEM PROCESS HOGGING RESOURCES

HI HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM, I AM RUNNING WINDOWS XP ON A OLDISH PC WHICH IS RUNNING SLOW WHEN OPENING TASK MANAGER UNDER IMAGE NAME A PROCESS CALLED SYSTEM THAT ALSO HAS A USER NAME CALLED SYSTEM IS TAKING ABOUT 70% OF THE MACHINES RESOURCES I HAVE RAN SPYBOT PEST PATROL AVG VIRUS AND MALWAREBYTES SCANS THERE WAS SOME MALWARE WHICH I THEN DELETED BUT I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IF ANYONE CAN HELP THANKS IN ADVANCE

If you are talking about System Idle Process, then a figure of 90% - 99% is quite normal and nothing to worry about, this is how it should be when the CPU is idling.
