system Error

  saranya 04:03 03 Dec 2005

Whenever I connect to internet I get the following error:
"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network"
it comes as a baloon in the system tray .

My system was previously affected by spyware & i didn't reinstall windows.I used system restore option & then installed zone alarm firewall which said it had resolved all problems.
Does this error have anything connection with the spyware attack. Please help me out of this problem.

StartMenu/Run, type `cmd`, type `ipconfig` in the dos box, what do you see? IS the machine networked, or stand-alone?

In Network Connections, do you have Microsoft Client for Networks, and File and Printer Sharing installed? If you're not networking uninstall them. Can't be muc h to go wrong with such a straight-forward setup eh...take a look at some of these click here

Stuck for answers with that, unless something has damaged for TCP/IP settings - if you suspect you may still have problems relating to spyware try Ewido click here - Win2k or XP only, I don't know if it will work on NT, but there are others to choose from as you will see.
