Synchronising desktop and laptop

  montrachet 14:54 26 Mar 2009

Could I have a little advice please.
I have a desktop computer connecting to the internet through an AOL box.
I have just bought a laptop which connects to the internet via a WiFi card in the AOL box. I suppose you could describe the AOL box as being like a BT hub.
I am already collecting my emails on both machines but would like to synchronise both machines to allow the information on the laptop to be backed up on the desktop backup. Also to synchronise files and documents between machines.
Can anyone tell me what equipment and software I will need to do this.
Thanks in advance.

Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/Synchronise and follow the Wizard.

Hi good morning
Thanks very much.
Unfortunately sync centre is telling me that 'There are no new sync partnerships that can be set up on this computer'.
I have the other computer switched on and just in case connected to the web.
Is there any way around this or to find the other computer.
