Synaptics POinting Device

Hi - I have this touch pad mouse on my Philips Feevent laptop. It stopped working soon after I bought the laptop - any ideas how I can gett it working again?

Take it back to where you bought it, get them to fix or replace the laptop, it must surely still be under warranty!

unfortunately not. I have struggled through with a usb mouse, but am now trying to get the touchpad sorted .......

Vista or xp ?

If Vista;

In the Start search box type MSCONFIG and enter

Under startup is the Synaptics box check marked ? if not tick the box and ok, now reboot the laptop.

If xp

As above except for Start then RUN and type MSCONFIG

Thanks - tried that (looking at the start up info) and the device is checked.

Any more ideas?

As per skidzy above (hiya mate), but try unticking the box, reboot, then tick the box again and reboot!

They can be very flaky.

I regularly have to uninstall/reinstall the driver, particularly on the one that used to run Vista and now Win 7.
