In order to get Vista SP1 to install on my new HP laptop I had to follow an action plan from MS techies. This included uninstalling Norton Internet Security 2008. It came pre-installed and had about 45 days left on it.

I have AVG free and ZoneAlarm free on my two desktops. Just trying to decide whether to reinstall Norton on the laptop using HP Recovery Manager.

One factor is how much I will have to pay after the free period to keep Norton going. Can anyone tell me?

Shop around you should be able to get it for about £20 or less.Personally myself I don't think it should come pre-installed on new computers.

Thanks for the replies. I won't reinstall 2008 but have not made up my mind yet between NIS 2009 or freebies.

I personally do not like all in one Security.I prefer them individually, then you know what one is not working properly,Some very good freebies out there but if you prefer Norton shop around.Mind you I cannot see you getting it for less than £16 unless on e-bay.

I should have added if you decide to remove Norton use their removal tool. Its the only way to get it of your computer completely.click here
