Same thing happens to me on my win98 system. It started about a week ago. Everything seems to be working OK so I'm ignoring it.

Pauliney, not sure if your saying "YES" to, you have "Live Update to run on start up". If you have, then goto the "Start Button", click it, goto RUN, type in msconfig, press ENTER, a window will open, goto the Start-up Tab, look for something to do with NORTON/SYMANTEC Live up date. Un-tick it. If you have re-installed twice, which I didn't think you could, try un-installing it altogether. Then re-install.

pauliney, Have you check in MSCONFIG to see if Live update is set to check at start up?
