Sygate firewall and servers

  Teknik 20:46 29 Jan 2003

I have just installed Sygate Personal Firewall v.5 for home use, and after a smooth installation everything seemed fine; in fact, too good because unlike Zone alarm which used to ask with each programme whether it should use it's own server, Sygate simply asks if I want the programme to have access to the net, but with no mention of servers. I have check on the advanced section of applications and from what I can gather all my programmes are acting as servers. I'm confused! I mean, does Sygate automatically configure itself upon installation or is there more work for me to do ?

Lots of programs try to contact "HOME" whenever you go on the net. Windows Media Player even tries to let Bill Gates know what you are listening to.
Sygate is just warning you af the fact.
It's up to you to either let it tell tales or to block it.
The choice is yours.
I think Sygate does a brilliant job warning you of things trying to get out and things trying to get in.
