Is it correct or safe to switch off my router (Thomson ST510) at night when I Close down my PC?

Yes it's safe. Correct is debatable.

Each time you switch of your router and then restart in the morning, you have effectively re-set the router ... the router should only be re-set in that way if you are having problems with it.

My router is on 24/7, it is a BT Router and leaving it on I am lead to believe, aids the routers' speed.

Ooopes - lead/led!

I have to switch mine off regularly in the wee hours of the mornin' to get my kids to go to bed!!! Hasn't damaged it or slowed it as far as I can tell.

There again sometimes rebooting the router will give better stats.

Happy Nu YR Technotiger and Paddylad....

I leave mine on all the time other than when there are storms about

My Reuter is turned off every night, sometimes during the day also, with no adverse affects.

I always switch mine off at night, i believe that it will extend the routers life as its not being "worked". Just my opinion.

Trouble with electronics is that temperature differences can lead to a shorter life. I always leave my router on except for reasons like woodchip states.
