SVHS capture unstable

My brother-in-law is transferring his Super VHS videos to DVD. He has no difficulties in capturing direct from the SVHS camcorder via Canopus to the Video editing program & has a good picture but when he captures SVHS recordings from his full size VCR the picture is unsteady with flashing & the sides pulling in. (they view correctly on playback to a TV) The VCR has been checked by Panasonic who say it is working correctly. Ordinary VHS can be transferred from the VCR with no problem; it is only SVHS that is affected. Any suggestions on what could be causing this would be appreciated

Equipment – Panasonic SVHS camcorder, Panasonic SVHS VCR, Canopus ADVC 55, Corel VideoStudio11
