Hello there and thanks for taking the time to view my question. About two weeks ago I suddenly was unable to browse the internet. Despite being connected with a full connection bar. Naturally I scanned for malware using malwarebytes and spybot, which only found a few minor things.

It was at this point that I thought about checking windows firewall for any problems. But whenever I tried to change any settings I got an error code 0x8007042c and was unable to proceed further. I tried activating it manually through services but encountered the same problem.

Help me PC Advisor, your my only hope.

Thank you for the reply, I should have mentioned that I tried the microsoft help service and followed the steps but it didn't work. I only have spybot and malwarebytes running on my computer at the moment, nothing else.

Try a system restore to before the issue.

Try a system restore to before the issue. On Win 8 it might take some time so be patient.

  StarbuckDegu 18:26 18 Aug 2013

Thank you all once again for replying, I have tried a system restore with no result. Yes I am using an 802.11n USB WLAN card, it seems to be working fine when checked in device manager.

I am attempting the system scan through the command prompt now, I shall post my system information if this is unsuccesful.

Okay so the scan hasn't fixed the problem, posting my dxdiag now.

Can you still get emails or do you have another browser to try? Thinking it may be a browser problem. Have you rebooted the router?

  rdave13 18:51 18 Aug 2013

If all else fails then uninstall the dongle, reboot and try installing again. It might have failed even if Device Manager says it's working ok.
