Stupid sound when surfing

  geewis357 22:04 08 Apr 2004

The sound when I'm surfing is driving me mad, it sounds like droplets of water whenever I access a new page on the web, its like water torture.
I'm using XP on a broad band connection. Can anyone please help.

i have no idea sorry.

i take it you have checked for spyware etc just in case?

you could try having a look at the program events box in control panel/sounds and audio devices

highlight a sound event and click the play sound tab to hear may find the sound is listed here if you go through them.

Are you using a "pop-up stopper", or ad filter - such as AdSubtract or the like ?

I have the aforementioned, and you can switch on sound effects when it stops something.

I know, bl@@dy annoying!

Internet Explorer 6 makes clicking sounds, like a mouse button being pressed when following links. This might be the sound you are reffering to open control panel, sounds, and if I remember correctly the offending entry is under windows explorer called Start navigation. Just remove the sound relating to this and silence again!

If it is the sound I'm thinking of it's called start.wav

Especially when turning up the volume to listen to music, the volume on the "click" got louder too.
