Strange User Account in Windows XP

  bstock 17:26 03 Mar 2004

Recently was concerned to find an additional user account in my computer.

The name was "ASP.NET Machine A's....", it was a password protected limited user account.

I've deleted it now and scanned all my files with spybot and others just in case

Then just this afternoon at a friends, low and behold on his Windows XP machine was the very same user account which was dealt with in the same way.

Does anyone have any details of how this occurs, trojan horse/ virus etc. ???

Thanks for your swift replies Jester2K and huggyg71.

That's a relief but can't help feeling a little worried though, how is a mere mortal supposed to know whats been placed on a machine by an update and whats been placed there by a more sinister method.

I do use antivirus/firewall/etc.. but thank goodness for this forum...........
