I have noticed that a small white rectangle with a red cross in the middle, about the size of the screen of the "my computer" icon computer screen (roughly a quarter the size of a normal icon) - has appeared on the desktop. All other desktop icons are normal. This rectangle with red cross has not gone away since rebooting the PC.
Any ideas what it is? Could it be 'malicious' in any way?
Thanks for the replies. I right clicked on it...and it turned out to be indicating a defunct jpg which hadn't opened when I tried to set it as desktop wallpaper. When I set the desktop to "none" again...it disappeared.
