stopping the startup

  red dragon 16:32 22 Jul 2005

Hi all.

I have been trying to remove some stuff from my startup.

I have downloaded a startup editor and a start up monitor which is supposed to tell you if anything is trying to add itself to the start menu.
When I try to edit stuff from startup it just creates another entry and so on.
Is there any way I can remove these entrys for good?
Any help gratefully received.

you dont say which windows you are using but with windows xp, you would right click the start button and choose open.

this will open the folder containing the start button entries, from here you can add/delete anything you want.

Some Programs will do that if you do not remove from the right place. First check. Startup Folder under Programs, you can jut right click and delete they are only shortcuts. Next go to Start\Run type

MSCONFIG press enter go to startup tab remove ticks from items you do not want to start, these can be restarted by putting the tick back reboot and put a tick in the box that pops up the close it
