I want to:

Reduce those that load with the system tray

Stop a tool bar loading onto the desktop at start up and I can't find how it does this (it came with some shareware I downloaded from the internet), do I need to search the registry?

I've explored the StartUp folder in the Start Menu explorer the ones I want to stop are not there; any guidance as to other ways programs load gratefully received.

Go to Start/Run and type in msconfig from here you can stop programs from loading at start up. Click the Startup tab to stop programs loading.
