STF Format Versus MPEG4

Can anybody advise what the fundemental differences are between STF Format and MPEG4 - thanx

All I know is Mpeg4 is a format used by DivX (as well as avi)click here

... is the best site for help on this type of question. DivX and XviD are names which the MPEG4 designation include. DivX is patented, XviD is open-source (I believe) and so free to use and to develop. MPEG4 includes many more different standards than any of the other MPEG designations, as it seems to have sparked a format-war! If I am correct STF is Scan-To-File format? And as such, bears no relationship to MPEG4, as MPEG4 is a movie format, and STF for scanning documents?
