DivX is patented, XviD is open-source (I believe) and so free to use and to develop. MPEG4 includes many more different standards than any of the other MPEG designations, as it seems to have sparked a format-war! If I am correct STF is Scan-To-File format? And as such, bears no relationship to MPEG4, as MPEG4 is a movie format, and STF for scanning documents?
