Ive tried a few firewalls since buying a new machine. Mcafee, comodo, zone alarm they all were giving so many problems i had to uninstall all of them i have used the mcafee removal tool but now half life has taken to closing itself once open without any report/error message of anysort anybody come across this with vista home? i cant believe a new machine is behaving like this :/

The Windows firewall in Vista is perfectly adequate.Even more so when used with a router which has it's own built in.
No need for a software firewall,it's just overkill.

Oppinions on the Vista firewall varies, personally i wouldent rely on it.However this doesent solve the problem, does it work if you deactivate the firewall briefly?

yeah i hear lots of different opinions, i have tried lots of time to deactivate it but the problem is allways there now :(
