Can anyone help please - I'm running XP pro with SP2 I'm trying to get Pirates of the Caribbean to start - I keep getting the error message Protection Error Debugger detected please close it down and restart. I've tried turning off Nortons Antivirus / Firewall etc. I do use the comp for online gaming alot. I've tried disabling all add on's in Explorer and in Explorer adv options checked that the script disables are ticked.

Ive got Directx 9 and Media Player 10 all installed - Nvida Geforce FX5200 with 256MB's and all the minimum spec's - Any ideas ?

I think this is a copy protection problem.....are you running any programs such as CloneDVD,DVDXcopy or other such thing which will let you make copies of discs?
What happens is the program you are trying to open detects something on your system that it thinks could be used to circumvent the copy protection system it uses and will shut down with the error message you are getting.
