Startup menu programs slowing things down

  Gemac 13:18 18 Jun 2007

Hi all,
I am speeding up my mums laptop by deleting the startup menu progs, however when I do this she can't log in to hotmail or internet banking.

When I do a restore then it's fine and she can log in, so I need to know what one would be stopping that happening when I delete it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks for any help.

Delete one at a time untill you have your problem.

Hi Rapscallion, thanks for your reply.
It's just going to be massively time consuming that way as there are quite a few and as it's not the fastest pc ever...

just wondered if anyone had experienced the same or knew offhand what might cause it.
But thanks anyway, if I hear nothing else I'll try that

Try this freeware program you can see what is starting up on boot

By unticking ihe program the program would not start up on reboot,

to restore just tick the box and reboot

Most programs will install a icon in the task bar 99% time you do not need to have these programs running all the time, aslo use up memory and cause the Pc to load very slow 1 icon 1sec - 10 icon 50sec etc.
