startup menu problems.

i went to start/run, wrote msconfig and got a box that amongst other things had the startup menu.
i unticked a few things i didn't wish to start up everytime i started the pc and hit ok.

the next time i started the pc i get a message saying i should go back to that box and highlight the 'normal mode', which i did.

however that reinstated all the things i originally unticked, so i'm asking do i HAVE to tick the 'normal' after i restart the pc after making changes? if i do, what is the point in being able to untick things?

thank you.

NO! you can leave it at selective startup. that's windows alerting you of changes made.

what was the message? misinterpreted?

the message says that its in 'diagnostic or selective startup mode.'

When you rebooted a box normally pops up it is just a matter of ticking the box and then it does not appear again. At least thats how it worked on XP.

Untick the things you do not want to run restart then on the box that pops up it as a little box left bottom corner put a tick in this so you do not see it again at boot
