Startup Error

when i boot windows xp, it loads the user screen on 800x600 in 4 bit colours. when logged in, an error message comes up:
RUNDLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll
Initialisation Routine Failed.

The start menu is inactive for about 2 minutes, as are control panel, and help and support. When the properties menu comes up, we cannot change the resolution or colour depth. All the folders have windows 95 icons, and everything is increbibly slow.
I tried staring in safe mode, last know good, normal windows, and bootup log mode. the logfile generated shows that most of the drivers failed to load.

Suggest you re-install your graphics card drivers. NvCpl is part of the NVidia drivers initialisation.
