start up winxp

I cannot start my computer.

I have used the recovery disc but it will not reinstall windows over the existing installation, it tries to format the disc first. To make things worse I accidently let it format 4 % of the disc.

I would think that you have no choice now but to do a full reformat and reinstall Windows.

guys, sorry for the delay. I accidently got myself locked out of the forum. But I rejoined with a new name.

My daughter has lots of photos of her old address and school. I don't want to lose these.with win 98 you could reinstall over the original, or even repair.

I boot up the problem pc with my recovery disc;

then I put the downloaded cd into the problem pc.

is that it?

I haven't got the unzip software ( it's not free antmore?).

your d: drive may now be your e: drive. Add one letter on to whatever it used to be.
