When I first start up after the splash screen and after seeing my desktop, I get a blue screen and the following info: Stop, error Ox0000008E (OxC0000005,0x806ED134,0xF4292924,0x00000000) When I press the reset button the PC boots up OK. Can anyone help cure this annoying problem? Thanks, Cocazowl
If the worst comes to the worst, you can "Repair" XP Pro and then reinstall SP2 without losing any hard drive data.
You should boot from your XP Pro CD-ROM (don't forget to check that you will boot from CD in the Bios first) and then choose Install. You will shortly be asked if you wish to continue to install or go to the Recovery Console. Select Install again.
Again, soon afterwards, you will have the choice of Repair or continuing to install. Select Repair this time.
You will need your XP Pro Product Number so have it ready.
Once XP Pro has been repaired, you can then reinstall SP2.
The whole process will take around an hour or perhaps a little more.
