  lee_robinson1983 22:31 22 May 2008

Hi all,

I am getting this message when attempting to boot up my pc:

A disk read error has occurred press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

I have just recently replaced my HD after my old one kept getting corrupted data on it.

Any ideas please anyone? Thanks

Did you clone this drive or reinstall windows ?

Check your connections !

No didnt clone the drive. When my new HD was formatted Windows XP was installed on. All the connections seem ok although the wires are a bit messy

looks like you have some bad memory

Woodchip - Really? I have 2 x 1gb sticks of ram but didnt realise this could be the cause? I was thinking more along the lines of a power problem... although I'm no expert. Have you seen this before caused by memory then? anyone else?

Computer is using Memory all the time writing data. But PSU can also be a problem. Try one stick of memory at\a ti8me, in the correct slot acording to you motherboard manual
