start menu

hi there

i wish to get rid of a few programs from my start menu, but don't know how to do it.

i've gone to msconfig in 'run', and found the start menu, however everything on the menu is 'ticked'.
i've tried un-ticking the ones i don't want anymore, hitting 'apply' and then restarting, but that didn't work.
should i untick everthing except the unwanted ones and then hit disable all? i'm worried that will disable even the ones not ticked.

i personally would not tick all the box's in mscofig ,try ticking the programmes you dont want on start up again individually,i know this is a bit long winded

actually i've just downloaded this program:
click here, where you can view the start menu and its much easier and quicker to remove stuff from it.
