Start up freezes

When I boot up the "Windows XP" start up progress bar freezes for between 30 seconds and 1 minute after that everything works OK (have noticed that the page jumps just before freezing)

It all started when I upgraded my Ram to 1Gb ( Slot 0 1Gb, Slot 1 256mb)

I have an Asus A7nv400 motherboard with 2800+ chip set and according to Belarc it should be able to cope with 1Gb ram in both ram slots

Hi, have you tried removing both mem sticks and then replacing again, making sure they are properly seated - also make sure there is no dust
around/in the slots.

Yes that is one of the first things I tried

I even swapped them around
Downloading and flashing the most upto date Bios
Reg clean
Reg sweep
sfc /scannow

When I replaced the original 256Mb chip the computer booted up fine,

But after paying out for a 1Gb ram chip I would like to get it working correctly

Have you tried the 1gb on its own?
