Sql Injection and intermittent database connectivity

Hello Everyone! I looked for an answer on the blog but I couldn't find anything relevant. What happened is a bit weird. On the 30th of December my site started having issues. some connectivity problems with the database. Our hosting provider run a scan and found an SQL injection from paydayloansforlivec.com. We scanned and cleaned the database and the site worked for a week and then stopped again. Our developer started working on it and improved security (without trying to actually fix the problem) and the site unexplicably started working correctly again. A week later it was not working again. When I click on a dropdown menu we see some code (which includes references at paydayloansforlivec.com). Our hosting providers (Hostgator)do not seem to be able to sort it out and our developer bright but young) is not sure what to do. Any guidance would be very highly appreciated. Thank you! Matt
