SQL 2005 not installing on Vista

  j3nks 15:31 05 Mar 2008

When trying to install SQL on a Vista PC it attempts to install for a couple on minutes and they says you will have to manualy update.
I have tried downloading SQL and manualy installing but still cannot get SQL to install.
I have a fix for this problem on XP but it does not work for Vista
Any help would be appreciated

Which version of SQL? click here

If you mean MySQL 5.0.51a there's a bug in the installer which sometimes prevents re-installation. Had the same problem on a system I use at work.
Stick with 5.0.45 for now.

Sorry, typing started before brain engaged - SQL2005 - did you try right clicking the installer and selecting Run as administrator?

It is being run as administrator and has installed successfully on other Vista PC's. With XP I can change the security on one of the folders and it will install fine but unfortunately the folders have different names in Vista so cant find the correct folder
