Spyware on reformatted computer

  hiwatt 17:43 06 May 2008

Hi folks,I've reformatted and reinstalled windows on an old computer and I'm getting pop ups from message service saying "message from lolcal system to user.Critical error message, registry damaged and corrupted visit registrycleanerxp.com immediately and the pop ups will stop"I've scanned with super antispyware and it found nothing. Also my @ sign is on my number 2 key and my " is on my @ key.Any ideas?I thought reinstalling would have got rid of any spyware that was on the computer? Thanks.

Disable Messenger Service (not the same thing as Windows/MSN Messenger) click here. Or install Service Pack 2 which disables it.

Go to Control Panel/Regional , change to UK keyboard

Thanks brundle.Installed service pack 2 and another 48 updates and I'm no longer getting the pop up.I thought it was spyware and was wondering how it was present on a newly formatted machine.Thanks.
