Spybot & tracking cookie

  fullyfitted 20:02 23 Mar 2004

I am using Norton with the recommended security settings on a Win xp platform and every time I run Spybot , usually once a day it identifies the following problem

Avenue A inc , tracking cookie or Tracking site.
This is located in Documents and settings.
I fix the problem each time but the following day it is back again.
According to Spybot , further information, this company claim thy don't do tracking any more.
It seems to be harmless but i am curious as to how it keeps appearig, is there any way i can identify the site of origin?, ie is it some web page that I vist on a regular basis or can I block it totally.
Ps I will be off line for the next hour or so but i will acknowledge any help later,
Many thanks

Could there be something present in StartUp which might explain why it is there every day. Go start>run>type msconfig and select startup tab. See if anything unusual in there. HTH TR

Thanks for the advice,
I've had a quick look at start up and nothing leaps out at me but to be honest there are some items I don't reccognise but I will have a bit of a play aboutand see if I can cure it

Thanks again

I used to get these all the time but not anymore. I never did find out which sites were responsible. They are relatively harmless anyway.

It was idle curiosity that made me ask,
as you say it seems harmless but thanks for the words of comfort
