Spybot S&D detects Zonemap.Ranges ?

What are Zonemap.Ranges detected by Spybot Search and destroy. It detected 15 registry keys relating to this, which all only point to 3 IP address each in 5 of the registry keys.

A "whois" on the IPs seemed to indicate harmless web addresses, but what are Zonemap.Ranges, how did they get on my PC, and why does spybot S&D detect them as harmful?

The IP addresses are
66.230.175.129
82.179.170.11
69.50.171.122

Thanks

I had seven of these when I checked. Spybot requested permission to run at the next startup as it couldn`t fix three as they were in use - I was in Safe Mode at the time!!!

They are gone now (2nd. run) but I would be more than interested to know about them as you would.

I got them too but deleted them with no problems, but also curious about them.

This was added in Spybot updates of 19 Aug. 2005.

Found this on the Spybot forumclick here

"Then I slowly reapplied individual shields from Webroot and MSAS, running Spybot scan after each addition"
I'm glad someone has the time/attention span to do this kind of thing...

Thanks for that. I get the impression it's sort of a false positive, seems to be generated by Sybot immunisation?

I read the Spybot page but I still don`t fully understand what it all means; I just don`t have the knowledge or experience yet. However I do feel more comfortable now with the assurance that it`s not something troublesome.

Thanks for providing the help.

I have just seen on the Spybot forum (same thread as linked above) that the problem was with the detections update of Jan 27 and was corrected in the update of Feb 3.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
