the other pc is a: p4 2.26ghz 384mb ram ati - somethin rubbish win xp pro sp2
now the second pc is able to connect to teamspeak and to any server i may host on my pc so it must be getting some sort of internet connection, this is only after i assign it an ip of 192.168.1.25 Gateway 192.168.1.254 DNS 192.168.1.254 these setting are the same as my pc apart from the ip mine is 192.168.1.64 but as soon as i try to connect to such programs as msn messenger or try to browse the internet it doesnt work. when i take all of the ip settings away and try to get it to assing itself an ip it doesnt work and says limeted or no conictivity can anyone help? thanks in advance Jay
Presumably, as you haven't mentioned a Router, you are trying to run "Internet Connection Sharing"?
As far as I'm aware, Windows "Internet Connection Sharing" doesn't work with AOL, but if someone knows otherwise, I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.
In any case, the IP addresses you detail show that you haven't set up ICS - if you had, the "host" PC's network adapter would have the IP address 192.168.0.1 (this *never* varies) and the "client" PC would have an address in the same 192.168.0.xxx subnet.
