hello, i have just downloaded and ran speedfan to check if i fitted my new cpu ok, it gave me these readings
cpu 31c
ambient 31c
remote 38c
core 29c
now, i cant figure out what the heck ambient and remote are, i assume cpu and core are the 2 cores?

amd 64 5200x2

Ambient means general air or liquid temperature.

In any case the the CPU temperature is just over half of my AMD Athlon XP 3200+, currently at 57 degrees C and likely to rise to about 59-60 degrees C. It's just been switched on..:-)

dont worry, i hit 62c on a loaded benchmark! so im guessing cpu and core are the two cores, remote is the grx, and as you said ambient is the mobo?
thanks for your help

I'm not actually worried - the CPU's top temperature mark is 85 degrees C and the Bios is set for a 70 degrees C cut off point..:-)

AMD CPUs generally run pretty hot but I've got a big Gigabyte fan in use which, even in summer, is rarely set above minimum fan speeds.

I use Motherboard Monitor 5 rather than SpeedFan.
