speed up wireless networks

I have an ad-hoc network with 2 xp home computers on it. They both have wireless g adapters but because it is an ad-hoc network they only connect at 11mbps.

Does anyone know any utilities that will speed it up?

What type of wireless network adapters are you using and, if USB, are you plugging them into USB 2.0 ports?

USB 1.1 ports run at 12Mbps and will reduce a wireless connection to 11Mbps.

I think 01chris should have noticed the warning message "A hi-speed usb device has been plugged into a low speed usb port" if he did that.

Just a suggestion,hope I am not wrong.
